Children
 |
| |
 |
SIS
immersion is a 16 level programs designed for
children between the ages of 7 and 14. The course is
designed to give students a solid foundation in
listening and speaking English. Students will also be
introduced to “computing in English” through |
|
interactive CD programs and a creative “Arts in
English” programs. Each SIS immersion level consists of
120 hours of English instruction. |

SIS
Instructors |
As this age is so important for developing a native
like accent students in these classes will spend time
working on pronunciation skills. This will be done through
games, competitions, drills and activities. We want our
students to complete our courses not only with the ability
to communicate in English but to do so with an accent that
resembles a native English speaker.
Each class will be directed by a Cambodian instructor and
be supported by a native-English speaking teacher. |

Effective Communicative
Teaching Methodology |
Students who complete the 16 levels of the programs will have had
almost 1920 hours of English tuition, and will be able to function in many settings and
situations. This will give them the knowledge, skills and
confidence to go on and complete the rest of SIS's intensive
English program..
Students will learn English
through:
- Songs and activities
- Games
- Role-plays
- Team orientated activities
- Discussions
- Mingling activities
- Brainstorming sessions
- Use of multi media facilities
- Arts and craft
Students who
complete the 16 levels in the immersion Programs
and who are eligible for intensive English program, may then go on to
a suitable level within the intensive program. |

Learning and Teaching
Materials |
The immersion Programs at SIS currently uses the
enormously successful series of books- Mr. Bug, Backpack and
Friends
Each book is adorned with vibrant
eye-catching illustrations which presents topics that appeal
to, stimulate and challenge young children. Along with their
textbook, each student receives a student book and a
workbook. This material forms the
core of the syllabus and is supplemented by teachers from an
extensive range of additional material available to our
teachers in our teachers’ office. |

Regular Feedback Between
Staff and Parents |
SIS understands that parents have invested
considerable time and money into the education of their
children. We at SIS take our responsibilities extremely
seriously and are in constant touch with parents and
concerned parties. Contact is initiated and maintained
through our teachers who are in class at all
times and, as part of their role, serve as a communicator
between parents and the department administrators.
At the end of every 2 month term, parents receive a detailed assessment
of their child’s performance in the form of individualized
student observation book written by the class teacher.
Parents can follow the progress of their child throughout
the course and be kept up to date with any news relating to
their child’s progress. |
| |
Regular
Assessment |
As part of SIS’s assurance to
guarantee quality and ensure our students progress, we
regularly assess our students performance using both in
program tests and end of term examination.
Core English skills are tested throughout the term using
regular progress checks and end of term examinations. This allows
us to provide parents immediate
feedback on their child’s performance in addition to identifying
students that are experiencing difficulties with particular skills.
This affords the teacher the opportunity to individualize
methods and ensures all students are achieving to their full
potential. |
